Kerry Reilly, GARDEN DESIGNER/SUPERVISOR
With more than 20 years experience in garden design, Kerry Reilly takes her cues from naturalized planting.
Preferring to work with locally sourced materials, her designs suggest a less manicured or structured, more
loose style. While her experience is grounded in the dozens of gardens she designed and maintained while
running her own garden business on the East Coast, Kerry says her exposure to the West Coast aesthetic has
strengthened her design skills. Its capacity to incorporate such a wide scope of plant materials year-round
creates a much freer and less restrictive palette, she says. The basic principles—form, texture and spatial
relationships—are always in place, but they can be employed in multiple ways to create thoughtful,
well-constructed spaces.
James W. Polack, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
James Polack's skills and considerable experience in large-scale planning provide the perfect compliment for Scott's
expertise as a plantsman and experience in large estate work. As a licensed landscape architect, James establishes a
design program for each project at Reilly Designs, determining clients' wants and needs and the site's capabilities
or potentials. His unique ability to see the big picture and create detailed construction documents enables him to
look at a project and see more potential while providing the technical expertise necessary to support the project's
construction. Less concerned with creating portfolio projects than with providing clients what they want or need,
James approaches each project as a collaborator, without imposing predetermined ideas or a signature design. He
takes great pride in consistently producing creative solutions unique to his clients and the challenges and
opportunities of their environments.
John Marchetto, HORTICULTURIST
Charged with quality control for plants, John is responsible for ensuring that proper horticultural standards are
applied to every landscape Reilly Designs installs. John's highest priority is meeting the cultural and environmental
needs of the plants in order to maintain the longevity of each planting. Originally from New York, John brings an
extensive background and formal training in horticulture to Reilly Designs. With more than 20 years experience working
at arboretums and estates on the East Coast, John has cultivated an expertise in plant care. His pruning skills
have been featured in the Ortho brand's book series on plant care as well as other trade publications. Inspired by
the wider spectrum of planting available on the West Coast, John sees endless possibilities in the broad range
of plants that can grow here.
